Strict against overloading, Rs 2 crore recovered in three-day campaign, 367 vehicles stopped

Amid the tightening of law and order in Bihar, the campaign against overloading vehicles started by the Transport Department has started showing benefits. Not only are such trains being tightened, but crores of rupees are also being recovered from them. In just three days’ campaign, the department has earned more than two crores as fine.

On Wednesday too, special intensive investigation campaign was carried out by the Transport Department for action on overloading trucks and other heavy vehicles across the state. In all districts, 514 commercial vehicles have been fined for taking action over violation of rules including overloading in three days. In a special investigation operation, overloading commercial vehicles have been fined Rs 2.5 crore in three days.

Transport Secretary Sanjay Kumar Aggarwal said that operating overloading vehicles is a violation of Road Safety Rules and Motor Vehicles Acts. A intensive investigation campaign will be carried out for one week in a row. So far, 367 vehicles have been seized in the investigation of sand-laden and other overloading vehicles. At the same time, the cancellation of permits for overloading 124 vehicles (trucks, buses and other commercial vehicles) has been recommended by the concerned investigating officials. The department has directed the DMs of all districts to take drastic action on overloading vehicles. The District Transport Officer, MVI and ESI have also been instructed for investigation and action of overloading vehicles.
