The State Human Rights Commission has taken cognizance of the deaths of children every year due to AES and fever. The Commission has on 14 January sent a notice to the Director Head of the Health Department to appear immediately. The Commission has ordered the Director Head to bring from AES the details related to the death of children and the amount of compensation given. Taking notice of the complaint of human rights activist Dr. SK Jha, the commission issued notice to the Health Department.
In response, information has been provided by the Health Department. It has been told that there is also a provision of giving four lakh rupees from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund and 400 for an ambulance to the closest dependents of patients who have died of fever. The Commission sought information on how many victims’ families were compensated from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund till then. The health department has not yet provided the details. On this, the Chairman of the Commission Justice Vinod Kumar Sinha has asked the Director Head Health Services on 27 October to appear with the report on 14 January.
