The entire country was eyeing the Raghopur assembly seat. Tejashwi Yadav, the chief minister candidate from the Grand Alliance, won with a margin of more than 37 thousand votes. He defeated Satish Yadav of BJP. Tejashwi Yadav got 96,786 votes while 58,966 votes. There was a difference of 37,760 votes between the two candidates.

He defeated Satish Yadav of BJP. Tejashwi Yadav got 96,786 votes while 58,966 votes. There was a difference of 37,760 votes between the two candidates.

After the assembly seat formation, a total of 20 elections have been held on the Yadav-dominated Raghopur assembly seat, including the 2000 by-elections so far. In this, Congress and RJD have been elected five times each, twice each, Janata Dal and United Socialist Party and once each have become candidates of JDU, Lok Dal, Janata Party (Secular), Janata Party, Jana Sangh, and Socialist Party.
