The birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, who was honored with India’s first education minister Bharat Ratna, was celebrated on Wednesday on National Education Day at Adarsh Middle School, Lahariyasarai. In the program organized under the chairmanship of Principal Sanjeev Kumar Mishra, teacher Manju Thakur, Arun Kumar Choudhary, Mo. Sajid Hasan and Baby Kumari paid floral tributes on the oil painting of Maulana Azad. Principal Sanjeev Kumar Mishra said that National Education Day is celebrated on the birthday of the first Education Minister of the country.This program is done across the country on 11 November. Teacher Arun Kumar Chaudhary said that Maulana Azad has a significant contribution in laying the foundation of IITs and UGC. He was a champion of women’s education. He formed Sangeet Natak Akademi, Sahitya Akademi, Lalit Kala Akademi, Indian Council for Cultural Relations in the 1950s. Launched a weekly magazine in Urdu called Al Hilal to criticize the British government.
