Government schools will open on Monday in Bihar
A maximum of 18 lakh 30 thousand 971 students will be able to visit eight thousand government secondary and higher secondary schools of Bihar in a day from Monday. A total of 36 lakh 61 thousand 942 children are enrolled in these schools. According to the government’s guide line, only half of the children in each of these classes will be able to come to school in a day.
It should be noted that the state government schools, coaching, colleges and educational institutions are closed since 14 March 2020. However from 23 September to 9th to 12th schools have been opened for guidance classes with 33 per cent attendance. The Disaster Management Group of the government, in a meeting chaired by the Chief Secretary on December 18, has directed to open all schools in the state from 9th to 12th with a 50 percent attendance from January 4. On this, the Education Department issued a detailed guideline on 24 December 2020, in which many instructions were given regarding safe school arrival and reading of children. On these instructions, Sanjay Kumar, Principal Secretary, Department of Education, held a meeting with all district education officials on December 30 through video conferencing.
It was clarified in this meeting that out of 18, 03, 709 students studying in government schools from 9th to 12th and half of 18, 58, 233 girl students will come to school on a day. He instructed to sanitize school classes, safe entry and exit of children in the school, avoiding crowded activities, hand washing and soap arrangement, giving two masks to each child. Schools have to sanitize classrooms in collaboration with the Municipal Corporation. If there is a problem, make this arrangement with the amount of school fund.
According to the report received by the education department from the districts, all the preparations for the operation of the schools have been completed. Education Department spokesperson and Deputy Director of Secondary Education Amit Kumar said on Saturday that all the schools are functional since September 23, teachers are coming daily. Other arrangements including toilets, drinking water are in order, Therefore there is no difficulty. The school administration will just have to ensure that the children stop the activities which are mobilizing in large numbers at one place and ensure the habit of washing hands. Coaching, colleges and other educational institutions will also have to follow the guidelines regarding operations. The responsibility of following the guidelines of the government has been entrusted to the District Magistrates, District Education Officers will assist them in this task.
