Railways has decided to redevelop the station under division of the East Central Railway (ECR) at an estimated cost of Rs 400 crore. Rail Land Development Authority ( ), a statutory body under the ministry of railways, has been assigned the task to redesign and revamp the station with modern infrastructure and amenities within three years from the time of work execution. According to RLDA vice chairman , railways which held a pre-bid meeting with the national and state level developers last month, has fixed June 17 as the last date for submission of e-bid. RLDA would start physical work in July or August.

“Under the approved plan, a new station building, having 108metre-wide airplaza over platforms for free movement and a waiting area
for passengers, will be built on the station premises. The provision of a second entry point is also in the plan to facilitate hassle free entry to passengers to the station premises,” Dudeja said.

Moreover, the proposed plan aims at segregating passengers at the time of entering platform areas as well as exiting the station premises,
besides platforms will be free of parcel and RMS movements. “Provision of lifts, escalators and staircases at each platform will be other facilities provided to passengers under the redevelopment plan,” RLDA vice chairman said, adding the revamped station will have enabled public address system and fire-fighting devices. The station building’s power grid will also be connected to SPV (solar photo voltaic) system to reduce carbon footprints.
